Teaching: Ways to Teach Your Kids about Good Touch and Bad Touch
Parenting is the toughest job.
In today’s world parents are needed to be more careful as their children need to have perfect knowledge about good touch and bad touch. I know it can be a tough subject to talk about.
But we need to do it in today’s world, and that is the fact.
Today’s world provides us with lots of news of molestation cases and child case on every other day. So, it is a necessity to empower our kids with the knowledge about good touch and bad touch, before it’s too late.
Don’t just sit there and grab the opportunity to talk to your kids about some sexual activities and the touches.
How do we teach them?
Avoid baby talk
It is important to teach your kids about the different parts of your body. They are needed to know the correct antonym of their private body parts. And please parents don’t teach them saying it’s a “pee-pee” part. That would be incorrect. You must make them believe their body parts are their property, not anyone else. Teaching them their names and functions will let them easily know what their private parts and the need are to safeguard them. Let them understand the body part covered by the swimsuit is their private parts.
Talk easily about the type of touches
You are going to have a conversation with your child, not your boss. Don’t give them a look that says, “It’s a do or die situation”. Be sweet and let them take it in an easy manner about the three different touches you are going to explain to them:
Safe Touch
Safe touch is the touch which will keep your baby safe. The touch will not be a discomforting touch on any part of their body. It would make them feel they are loved and has importance in their life. But do explain to them the touch in their hurt is not a bad touch it is touched to keep them healthy.
Unsafe Touch
Thetouches like hitting, pushing, kicking etc. are the unsafe touch. Tell you, kids, if anyone is doing these pieces of stuff it’s a bad touch.
Unwanted Touch
This touch is like a safe touch. But there are times when kids would not be liked to be touched by any person. That is when they can strongly say “No” and move on. But teach them to tell it in a polite voice. This will help them to set boundaries.
Teach them why are undergarment worn?
You children are needed to have the knowledge about why undergarments are worn. And anyone who touches the undergarment area is not a good touch. This can also be a good example for them and provide them with proper knowledge about good touch and bad touch.
Shout! Shout! Shout
We teach our children’s to be polite and quiet. They should be well mannered but is it necessary every time.
Teaching them to shout can help the kids a lot when they are not around you. Especially when they are receiving bad touch from anyone. It is good to be mannered but great to shout sometimes.
