Ways to Build Your Workspace at Home During Pandemic

Pandemic has led many companies to implement policies for the employee to work from home. This can be a challenge for most of them, as they might be practicing full-time work from home for the first time.

Even if you have practiced work from home before, work from home during COVID-19 might feel different. As it is a whole new world because the employee was not mentally prepared.

And you still do not know when will this pandemic be healed and you can turn back to your regular life. You and teams are involved in this situation, where you cannot socialize with each other.

However, work from home is beneficial as it maintains social distancing and keeps you safe. Work from home needs the motivation to keep you focused and complete your office work on time.

So, here are some tips which ensure you being successful in both getting your work done and maintaining to provide accountable, collaborative and productivity form home.

  • Get Dressed: When you are at home you prefer being comfortable and like spending “me” time. So, getting dressed might sound simple, but it is crucial. because getting dressed needs courage when you are at home. Dressing up for office especially when you are not going out you. You are compelled to complete all the tasks like bathing, brushing of hair and sometimes even makeup would be beneficial. You would not be going out but yes, you will be properly dressed which would even feel you are taking care of yourself.
  • Designate a place for your workplace: Many people do not prefer bringing work at home. They try to maintain a balanced environment between work and home. So, not every house has a dedicated work area. But during this quarantine, you need to have one a dedicate place. Don’t worry you do not have to remodel your house for a small place. You just must choose an area where you have enough natural light and is far from your bed. These things will help you concentrate more on your work.

Do remember your workspace should feel separate from the rest of your house. Make sure your workspace is comfortable and decorative as you need to spend eight hours of your day.

Important: Leave your workspace after office hours are over, as you would feel you are returning to home.

  • Keep defined working hours: Work from home doesn’t mean you can start working anytime you want. You should have a dedicated time so that you it helps you to be focused and motivated. So, don’t jump onto your work anytime you want. You should have a definite working hour and try maintaining your working hours as regular office hours.   Keep yourself accountable, but donot forget to stop when it is enough, because if you do not leave the next day can be boring and you won’t be able to start with a fresh mind. If you are living other people try establishing your boundaries, as you need to cut distractions during your working hours.
  • Communicate as much as you can: Sometimes reading emails can be boring. Even if is not boring you might feel you want to communicate with your office colleges. Then just zoom in with your friends and get the work done for motivation.   Video conferencing will help in regular checking also. That is not all you can even chat with your friends, as communication helps you to dive your mind and motivates you and your loved ones.
  • Make a motivation list: A simple to-do list or a motivational list to keep you organized, motivated and increase your productivity. While creating this list do remember to add some short term and long-term goals and completing all the task. As you complete the smaller ones, it is easy to reach bigger ones and will work as your progress reports.
